Humidity and Structural Issues Resolved in Phelpston, ON
Challenge
A homeowner in Phelpston was experiencing ongoing crawl space issues caused by excessive moisture and high humidity levels. The unsealed crawl space allowed moisture from the ground to enter the area, creating damp conditions that negatively affected the overall environment beneath the home. Over time, this excess moisture increased the risk of mold growth, musty odors, poor indoor air quality, wood deterioration, and reduced energy efficiency. In addition to the moisture concerns, sections of the floor system showed signs of weakening and required additional structural support to prevent further movement and maintain the integrity of the home. The homeowner was looking for a comprehensive crawl space repair solution that would address moisture control, waterproofing, insulation, drainage, and structural stabilization.
Solution
To create a healthier and more protected crawl space, our team implemented a complete crawl space encapsulation and waterproofing system designed to control moisture at its source and improve the long-term performance of the space.
The first step was installing the CleanSpace® encapsulation system throughout the crawl space. This durable vapor barrier covers exposed earth surfaces to help prevent ground moisture from entering the space and creating humid conditions. To improve water management beneath the encapsulation system, CleanSpace Drainage Matting was installed to provide a pathway for water movement and help direct moisture toward the drainage and pumping system.
To address energy loss and condensation concerns, SilverGlo™ insulation panels were installed along the crawl space walls. These insulation panels help improve thermal efficiency, reduce heat transfer, and contribute to better moisture control by limiting condensation on foundation surfaces.
For long-term humidity management, a SaniDry Sedona® dehumidifier was installed. This high-performance system continuously removes excess moisture from the air, helping maintain healthy humidity levels, improve air quality, and reduce the potential for mold and mildew growth.
To protect the crawl space from groundwater intrusion, a SmartSump® sump pump system was installed. This system collects and removes water efficiently, providing dependable protection against water accumulation and helping keep the crawl space dry throughout the year.
Finally, SmartJack® support posts were installed to reinforce and stabilize weakened floor joists. These adjustable steel supports help restore structural stability, reduce floor deflection, and provide lasting support for the home's flooring system.
By combining crawl space encapsulation, drainage, waterproofing, insulation, dehumidification, sump pump protection, and structural reinforcement, our team delivered a complete solution that transformed the crawl space into a dry, energy-efficient, and structurally stable environment built for long-term performance.
